An Email with the Subject "CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU HAVE WON" was received in one of Scamdex's honeypot email accounts on Wed, 22 Aug 2007 12:22:18 -0700 and has been classified as a Generic Scam Email. The sender shows as broadcast12345@yahoo.co.jp.
The email address was probably spoofed. Do not reply to or contact any persons or organizations referenced in this email, or follow any URLs as you may expose yourself to scammers and, at the very least, you will be added to their email address lists for spam purposes.

The first draw
Mary Burnip, The First Jackpot Winner
The first draw was made on the 31st August as scheduled, however in order to create some excitement the winners identity was kept secret until the 7th September, although it was revealed that the winners email address won.
The winner was 28 year old retail manager Mary Burnip, who her email address was picked out of the 500 email addrersses.
Danielle Nicholls presented her with a cheque for £200,000 pound sterling.
Background to the launch
The OPEC Lottery was launched in the Netherlands in 1989 and so far has raised nearly 3.5 Billion for charities such as Amnesty International, Greenpeace, WWE and Oxfam and given out around 750 Million in prizes. Internationally the Lottery is backed by high profile OIL COMPANIES SUCH LIKE SHELL PETROLEUM, MOBIL OIL AND A HOST OF OTHER COMPANIES. Based on this success the organisers NNPC, began to look at expanding into other markets launching in Sweden in 2004.
