Occasionally, incorrectly categorized emails get into the Scamdex Scam Email Database and need to be removed. If this
email has Personally Identifiable Information (PII), or is, in your opinion, from a bona-fide entity, let us know.
Scamdex will, as soon as is practicable, take-down any emails that in our opinion should not
be in our database. Note that ALL emails in the Scamdex Scam Email Database were received as Unsolicited Commercial Email, aka UCE or
SPAM , via unpublished 'Honeypot' email addresses.

The APWG is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the
APWG's 2008 Fall conferences: the members-only General Members' Meeting
on October 14 and the eCrime Researchers Summit on October 15 and 16.
Each of these conferences will be held contiguously as a single program
at the Doubletree Hotel Atlanta in the heart of the cosmopolitan,
eclectic Buckhead district of Atlanta.
The first day of the conference, the General Members meeting, will be
closed to media and to non-members and will be an exclusively
members-only session. The last two days of the conference, our eCrime
Researchers Summit, will be open-enrollment sessions for members and
non-members and will be open to media coverage. A single admission fee
[SEE: Conference Week Registration Notes, below] will cover both events
for members and non-members. Note again, however, non-members will not
be admitted to General Members' Meeting.
The 2008 APWG conference week marks the APWG's fifth year in operation,
presenting an important opportunity for reflection. Phishing, in those
five short years, has grown in scope and in its criminal utility from a
penny ante enterprise for robbing consumer bank accounts to an
instrument used in derivatives fraud on national share-trading bourses.
This year's meeting is much more than an important meeting place and
research venue. It is, for all members of the counter-electronic-crime
community, an opportunity to take stock of the advancements in
electronic crime and the achievements of the professionals, researchers
and volunteers who confront it every day and, as importantly, to
consider as a group how the threat of electronic crime will unfold in
the next 5 years - and its consequences.
Conference Week Registration Notes
The cutoff date for the discounted Early Bird registration rate of $325
is September 9, so make out your registration today. After September 9,
the conference rate rises to $400 for members and non-members. (The
discounted student rate is $150 and is only available to registered
students with valid and current student IDs that will be checked the day
of the conference.)

2008 Conference Week Programming Notes
At the General Members' Meeting on October 14 and the eCrime Researchers
Summit on October 15 and 16 plan on three full days of investigations
into crimeware, behavioral vulnerabilities, examinations of industrial
policies, phishing statistics, DNS policies, law enforcement efforts as
well as international field reports and panels of expert technologists,
forensic artisans, front-line responders, law enforcement personnel,
government regulators and academic and industrial researchers.
We've got a number of presentation developing now but we are ready to
review presentation proposals for the General Members' Meeting and the
eCrime Researchers Summit in all the topic spaces we have traditionally
covered: statistical overviews, desktop and web vulnerabilities related
to ecrime, ecrime trends, electronic crime forensics, law enforcement,
behavioral/user vulnerabilities, industrial policies related to ecrime
and incidentally enabling ecrime and network
vulnerabilities/exploitation related to ecrime. (Still, this year
especially, we would appreciate presentations that incorporate
perspective from the last five years, exploring how phishing and
electronic crime has evolved thus far - and in that informing ideas
about how it will unfold in the future.)

The deadline for peer-reviewed papers from industrial and academic
researchers for the eCrime Researchers Summit has closed. The poster
submissions' deadline is September 3. The deadline for Research in
Progress (RIP) proposals is September 1. (RIPs allow for late
submissions of presentations of research that have yielded intriguing
results but weren't ready at the conference's submission deadline.) For
consideration in the RIP category please submit an extensive abstract to
both of the eCrime Researchers Summit co-chairs: Susanne Wetzel at
swetzel@cs.stev ens.edu and Randy Vaughn at RL_Vaughn@Baylor.edu .
